Hi Guys, this seems like an awfully nice place to start an addiction. I am looking forward to visiting here often. I have a Buick Grand National that I have owned for 21 years. Its home, until 2 years ago, was the small 1 car garage under my split level home. Nice and cozy, but, to small. About 6 years ago I decided to build something bigger
. Since I didn't have the money for everything I started with the foundation, a 30x28 2 car. ( My reasoning here was that if the foundation was in sooner or later she would have to let me finish it). It would take another 3 years to save the funds to start the build. I decided I wanted a lot of storage space so I went with a 2 story, Gambrel(sp) style. Interior 1st floor hight is just shy of 12ft. Since I was on a limited budget I built it myself with some help from a few friends, only contracting out the concrete work. It came out beautiful and I really only had one hitch during construction, but it was a nasty hitch. I had the second floor framing well under way. The gable ends were up and sheathed and tyveked. The side knee walls were up, the rafters were up. Then we got a nasty storm. It blew the whole 2nd floor framing down. Both gable ends blew off the building and all the rafters and knee wall framing fell in a pile on the 2nd floor deck. And it was the middle of November. And I have artificial hips and steel plates in my back, which don't really care for the cold. Boy, was that a long winter!! But, it has been done for a couple of years now, and after visiting here to look for ideas on lifts, I may just have to finish the inside and give the GN the home it deserves. Thanks a lot, guys. OK, now I gotta go and post looking for lift opinions. Again, looks like a great place!
