Dad bought this Wilton for a gas station shop back in the mid-50’s.

I grew up using it in the basement home shop, and later at the truck shop Dad owned.

It has resided in my shop at home for the past 25 years. It’s a bit tired and worse for the wear, and I just felt it’s time to restore it.

It’s an 840, 4”. Date stamp is 10/53. Never had a swivel base, I think if possible, I’d like to find one for it. The handle is pretty beat up, not sure if it’s easier to just have one machined, or maybe find a suitable replacement. Same for jaws, I’ll need a new set if those are available.

I’ve begun to read through all the appropriate threads here…lots of great info on these.

once I get it “dis-aparted”…I’ll figure out what color it should be, and where to find the appropriate paint etc.

Anyway, here’s a pic of me using it in 1967, building a soap box derby car. The other pic is the Wilton in my shop today.

Thanks in advance for any advice/ideas!
