I have always used NM clamps when wiring up boxes and fixtures, but was wondering if I can use the plastic push in connectors interchangeably. What's a best practice and what's acceptable?
The plastic push in connectors meet code for NM, but I don't care for them, or the way that they don't do a good job of securing the wires. Be sure to staple right near the box if you use them.
We use all plastic ones. If you get good quality ones, you wont have a problem. some are actually rated for 2 conductors. Metal ones still have their purpose, like fishing a wire down to a recessed panel. your able to attach it on the wire without the lock nut, pull the end through a knockout and put the locknut on.
