I've been lurking for about 6 months, finally got around to taking some updated pics of the garage.

House is 2000sq.ft. with a 20x20 attached garage.

Now I EXPECT to get a bit of a "cold" reception due to the cars of choice in the garage, but hey, we're all on this board for the same reasons correct?

I've got a lot of great ideas from this site that I can't wait to get to it!

Few pics of the garage when we bought it. Yes, that is a Peach/Pink color you are seeing. Previous owner must have been "told" what color to paint it. :bounce: Went with an off-white color to brighten things up.
Notice defective 4ft ballast.

Hung (2) 8ft ballasts. Almost too bright? Never!

The cabinet and workbench were left with the house. Using them until I can afford something a little nicer. Or just make my own

Sink area. Put up some Formica around the sink because the splashed water damaged the walls.

Yet to be hung

And of course, have to have a place to store the non-car stuff!

Cabinets are from my buddies' mom's house. They were blue. Gave them some flat black and hung them for my bug spray/weed killer etc. VERY handy!

That snowblower is like my best friend

Love to hear some comments/suggestions.

Thanks GJ!

Hi Quint! Welcome to the Garage Journal. Great garage you have. Lots of potential.

BTW, no flack from me about the cars. I drive a Toyota Tacoma as a daily driver along with my Scouts and Oldsmobiles.

Watch out for sharks and again....welcome to the site.

Welcome to GJ, Quint and Y-Town. My parents grew up there and I remember visiting my grandparents house and Mill Creek Park. Never had a chance to hit the amusement park before it closed.

There is lots of potential in your clean garage. The paint and lights really help. Cars are Cars - four wheels, and engine, a radio and many with A/C. No complaints. Now if the cars would be outside so the garage could be a bedroom, skate park or other non-garage function, then you would probably hear it...

Nice shed for all the non-garage stuff. Love the roll-up door. You will make many happy here.

Just a thought for the ceiling, the pull down ladder would almost disappear if it were painted white to match the ceiling.

Welcome

Thanks guys!

Previous owner had the roll up door installed. I'd never seen one before I saw this.

Good idea about the attic ladder. Should draw your eyes away from the ladder!

Nice garage, lots of potential.
Some cute toys.
I would lose the window, not a fan of people watching what I do in my sanctuary.
Outlet cover is missing.
that snowblower is a toy for the kids right? what does dad use?

Samm - Niles is a great city. Lots to do up there. Only about 25mins for me up Rt.46

PaulR - Window will likely stay. The garage faces west, so it sees the evening sun. Unfortunate because it gets SO damn hot in there in the evenings. I WILL, however, be putting a new blind on it.

All of the outlet covers are missing actually (good eye). They were filthy and cracked. We are replacing them all.

I'm only 26..no kids (Yet!). This is our first house, and with a 3 car driveway, that lil snowblower has saved me a lot of sweat!

Also, you can't really see in the pictures, but the walls are textured. Might be my biggest gripe about the garage. Should make hanging cabinets fun.

I'd LIKE to get all of my tools on the back wall, so I have as much room as possible around the cars. I think I can do it if I replace the standing cabinet with wall mounted cabinets. Also, replace the workbench with a custom built (shorter) one. Should free up some room.
I'm not sure how I feel about the side entry door in the corner....Should I just put stuff in front of it? Leave room for it to swing open? I never use it...
Ideas?

Welcome to GJ. My wife's sister/family lives just over the line near Sharon, PA.

You've already tackled lighting and color issues. I'd avoid blocking the door, just on the basis that it'll make the garage look cluttered. Getting things up off the floor and onto the walls will help. I prefer cabinets over open shelves. Shelving to me look cluttered and doesn't keep items from getting dirty. Once the cabinets are hung on the textured walls, you can caulk the edges for a clean look.

Thanks for the pics!

Snow? Whats that?

I'd keep the door usable. I find it convenient to step out the back door to spray paint something quick rather than open the overhead door. It also can provide cross ventilation thru the garage.

I moved my tool box as close to the door opening as possible, and moved the standing cabinet where the toolbox was. Going to start my workbench design in the next few days....
