Obstruction and Half-Moon Wrenches- How often do you use 'em?

I have a couple. 12mm for Datsun carb nuts. A 16mm 60 degree open end for newer Chevy power steering hoses when I wrenched at a local GM dealer. Saves an easy hour to replace the hi pressure ps hose. After about 60k miles, they all leak. I have a TON of one time or limited use tools from my professional wrenching days. Just buy as you need it. Otherwise you'll have two full full pro boxes like me full of tools you seldom if ever use. Worst of all is tools that outlive the vehicles they were designed for. How many Datsun carbs will I work on in the future?

I bought quite a few just-in-case tools.
And this is one of them I've never need to use; unless I intentionally use it, so I can justify buying it.

I have a couple of the half moon wrenches that came from my father's and grandfather's estates. I've never used them.

I have a few ground, cut, bent and welded wrenches that I have used a few times. They reside in a plastic box on a shelf, on the odd chance I may need them again. BTW they are all Asian imports that gave their lives for a good cause

More often than not I will use a cut/modified wrench before these, but they have their place. Pipe flanges come to mind. A lot of valves and pumps as well you cant use s.ockets on. I tend to think you cant have too many wrenches.

Depends what you work on. A lot of guys have stubby, normal, semi deep, deep, extra deep whatever sockets in every drive size. I wouldn't even consider all that till I had most wrench types and duplicates of at least the common ones such as combo wrenches you use often.

I skimmed through this thread, I don't think I saw anybody mention this.one place where the half moon wrenches are useful is pulling transfer cases on 4x4s.Also torque adapters are good for torqueing the nuts on motorcycle clyinder jugs.A 9/16 saltus wrench is good for getting to the torqueconverter nuts on pretty much all ford transmissions.

The only place I can recall using obstruction wrenches regularly is multiple carb setups. Getting to hold down studs around micro switches,fuel lines and linkages can be a pain. I think they fall into the category of seldom used but when you need them you need them. Similar to crows feet.
