I accidentally stumbled upon a new source for spare drawer handles for vintage (60's-70's ?) toolboxes today. It was staring me in the face all along.
My town has an annual bulk metal pick-up. I decided to get rid of one of my storage cabinets that had a rotted bottom (not worth fixing). As I was taking the handles off, because "I might need them someday", I noticed that the handles on my other cabinet looked familiar. I took out a tape measure, and sure enough, they are the same handles that are on my off-branded 1974 Waterloo made top box. Perfect match.
Ta Da !!
For those of you who need replacement handles on your project boxes, try looking at cheap rusted out steel storage cabinets at the dump or scrapyard. You might see them on CL, yard sales, or flea markets as well.
