Offset Extension Wrench

My Neighbor was raving about a tool he borrowed called an offset extension wrench. He said it saved him $600 because he was able to get the rear spark plugs out of his Subaru. So of course I went home and started Googling. Stated to be good for tight places and to provide plenty of torque. Seems they go by many names. I include a pic for reference.

1) Snake oil or do you use them and find them valuable?
2) If they are useful, what is a good brand to get?

I have a set of the Tite-Reach ones. They have a chain drive inside them so an impact is useless.

The only thing they have worked really well at was making headlight adjustments on my Tacoma. One of the screws is in a very difficult to reach area and the tite-reach made it super easy.

I can do subaru plugs without it, never tried that application.

I've had them probably about 7 years, I wrench on stuff almost every day, I can only remember them being actually usefully about 2 times.

I'm slightly more pleased with these 'offset extension ratchets'....



They are still pretty cumbersome to manage along with a drill and a socket, but they will transfer alot more torque from a powertool.
They have a gear reduction in the ratchet head, whereas the Tite-Reach is a 1:1 ratio. So the Tite-reach type is way faster, the the ratchet type has alot more torque but is much slower. But you can run it with a drill motor so it still does OK.

You can change the rear plugs in a Roo with a low profile ratchet like a Gearwrench 90T, Tekton 90T, Matco 88...... Put the socket on the plug, install the ratchet... It might even be possible with an old SK round head flex head but I haven't tried.

This little guy works about perfect for the DOHC models.
