I searched for "Oil Pressure Test Kit" and the most recent result is from 2014. Who makes a decent kit for a "reasonable" price these days? I don't want garbage, but I don't need top of the line either as it won't get used often.

Needed for import vehicles primarily.

TIA

I bought mine from Cornwell Tools. I don't remember the price. It has 2 different gauges, and can be used on engines, or transmission, and also comes with adapters too.

We had an emergency with our 17 ton boomtruck while working out of town. Harbor Freight tester worked fine after we got the right adapter at local hydraulic shop. Turned out to be simply a bad sending unit; engine had plenty of pressure. It is a decent enough set for our needs.

When it comes to pressure testers/gauges the only ones Ive ever had good luck with are Proto, Lang, Star, and Snap On. The cheap ones either leak or just plain quit working. Mine get used quite often though, so if its something that a person only needs a few times a year I would think any well known name would work fine.

My big Proto set with a boatload of adapters and two gauges (low and high pressure) has probably given me the least trouble of all.

I'm sort of in the same boat, I dont do.manual tests often but sometimes you need to.

I'm making up a collection of engine specific oul filter adapters and fittings for a pressure transducer. Can be annoying, but you have the glory of recording the data. Lang tu-16a was the most complete set I have found, as far as adapters.

Is there any significant difference (performance/quality/COO) between the OTC and Maddox (Harbor Freight) kits? Not something I will use often but I want it to be accurate. Want to confirm gauge on my boat is accurate.

Also do they make adapter where you can install mechanical gauge AND the OEM sender at same time? Like a Tee connector? I don't want PCM throwing engine into "limp" mode If it doesn't see any oil pressure. (Have to check my manual there may be a separate port for testing).

Any other recommendations for good quality oil pressure gauge kit under say $150? Thanks.

These are what Im looking at

I have a KD model that screws on in place of the oil filter. That might help if you don't want to set codes. Also Chrysler has caps that screw on in place of the oil filter cap and is taped so you can screw your gauge in there.
