So i recently dug up this old Indestro 6272 , in pretty good shape except the fact the lever is broken off. Couldn't find any NOS indestro rebuild kits on Ebay.

Any ideas?

Thanks Chris

hmmm.....
the rebuild kit would be a 6272-8.
the Duro-Chrome equivalent would be the exact same part, but I do not know what the part number would be.
rebuild kits for those are essentially non-existent.
it would be easier (and probably cheaper) to just find a good 6272 Indestro (or the equivalent in Duro-Chrome or WIZARD) on Ebay.
(The WIZARD might have a flat handle instead of the knurled round handle.)

Five of them listed on Ebay right now - $16.00 (including shipping) and up.
Can't beat it with a stick:

Ya the more I have been researching sadly I agree. I would have to find a donor ratchet or just keep looking for a kit.

Ya might buy another one

I've seen rebuild kits from time to time on eBay, you may be rewarded if you are patient. Or you may find an eBay donor ratchet.

It's just the lever that's the problem? If you just want it to work, I would think a little patience and you could craft something to do the job. A couple of holes drilled in a small piece of stock, filed out, epoxied or peened in place... painful to do, and honestly probably a better value to buy another ratchet like it and save your time, but possible. Or try swiping and modifying a part from another with a similar lever design - seems to me some older Proto or Armstrongs had a lever like that, and there are China knockoffs around that the lever from them could be made to work.

I do appreciate keeping these things going, and Indestro is cool (I particularly like my 1/4" round-head Indestro Super ratchet). Worst case is leave a message up here, this is about as likely of a place to find parts for it as anywhere.

Great ratchet, solid and tight! I had a triple play of those, then sold the 1/2" and the 1/4". Still regret selling the 1/4"er.

Keep your eyes open. A donor ratchet will show up somewhere.

^ Bonneyman, the 6072 1/4" drive models show up on Ebay every now and then.
The #2875 RHFT 1/4" is by far a better unit, but they can get spendy. There's one on Ebay right now for $25. looks to be in fairly decent shape:

I wouldn't horse around trying to "fix" that selector lever on that unit. You'd be time and money ahead to just spring for a replacement. That's actually a pretty common item on Ebay, and $16 is about as cheap as you're going to find one.
just be sure to avoid any ratchet where the knurling on the handle is bashed - usually an indicator somebody was whipping it with a hammer or put a pipe on it. just hang loose and wait for one with clean knurling all the way around.
and just ask the seller if it works properly in both directions if it's not specified in the ad text. I'm never bashful about pestering sellers with questions. easier than hassling with them on a return.

I think I have about 6 or 8 of those 6272's now...

I'd probably try to build a selector instead of watching tv or something.
Heres one I did on a Walden Ratchet, started with a brass sprinkler head as the original was a round brass knob.
