Old milling machine stand progress

I got the machine stand with a drill press on it for $40
I got the Wilton on a bench for $40 also. Still have the drill press and bench but may be combining the Wilton and machine stand. Final configuration is still not set. I may still bring the machine stand in the house and use it for a TV stand or something...lol.

After paint. Not sure I am digging the color. Its a hammered light blue, sort of like what the original paint on the Wilton would have had. I may paint the stand to match the Wilton with the light greem color.

I have a scale. I will get you an actual weight next time I go to garage. The weight is published im sure. But Ill get the real weight and post it up. The machine stand is probably 250 lbs+

hybridss do you plan on putting anything else on your table or will it be dedicated to your vise only ? I was thinking along the lines of maybe a bench grinder or small belt sander.

Woody...Im not really sure. Its so heavy that just about anything will work great without mounting direct to concrete. I also have a tubing roller, grinders, the drill press that came on it (all cleaned up and operational) and many other things.

Right now I am still in the process of removing the corrosion at the base and picking a color to paint it. I think I will make a new top to it as well because the one you see was an experiment and is probably too small. I will probably go a little larger and do a better job this time and then paint it, mount the top and then decide what to put on it.

Weighed the stand. It weighs approximately 230 lbs without the vise.

Just to clarify...the wood and steel top I made by welding angle and flat stock. I routed the wood edges where the steel goes so it would be flush steel/wood. It was an experiment. I may make another one that is slightly larger.

I remember reading on this forum somewhere that raised letters look better when the sides are painted aswell. Its a great looking piece regardless but that might make the letters show better.
