Found this in my late PawPaws shed.

I originally thought it was a car jack but after a little research and finding that they are used to level pier and beam homes and my PawPaws house was pier and beam that makes more sense.

Any other info on this thing would be appreciated.

My Dad has a similar Simplex that was his uncles, probably from the 40's. He always called it a "Railroad Jack" We used it for jacking up and leveling barns and buildings. Had to be careful lowering it though to avoid pinched fingers or worse!

It looks like a Railroad Jack to me, we have two similar style 20 ton jacks in our shop and they get used all the time.

Re: That's a good one.........

My first post here guys. I needed a jack with a low lifting point to jack up a yard barn and found this on Craigslist for $15.00:

Regards Barry

That's a nice price, usually around here those jacks sell for between $50-$150 depending on the size. We picked up two ten ton jacks, paid about $75 each and thought we did pretty good.
