Old snap on m-70 box set, hammers odds ends gmtk? Pretty sure

Just few pics I took

The boxed Snap on sockets have E on them and there the odd size 9/32?

The hammers are from left to right: Fairmount, Stanley, Fairmount, Plumb J.S, Fairmount

The tool box is random sockets, BE Craftsman, Blackhawk, SK, DURO Chrome, New Britain, snaps on, Stevens Walden, Bonney, Hinsley, Herbrand Van Chrome, ECT damn near everyone is different lol, lotta BE craftsman tho.

Cool monkey wrench its an Trimont 14 Alloy-A

And I have no idea what that black tool is beside it its heavy as he'll with a roller on top n stamped Desmond M-1

Any input welcome any questions ill answer ill post more soon prob my screwdrivers and wrenchs I prob need to make a list of sizes and makers? I dunno.

Snap On E given the pictures dates it to 1944, E for Emergency I guess (there was another E later for replacement if I remember correctly). 9/32 is one of the older sizes for a drive.
Nice find!
Look up the threads for different companies and post more pictures in the specific threads.

Welcome to the GJ. I find your pictures interesting in that so many of the tools seem to be from around the WW2 era and they are contained in the top tray of a Wartime GMTK toolbox. I see a Walden 1/4” drive set, a pair of WW2 wire cutters. Your 9/32” drive Snap-On set looks very complete. I’m not sure what the tool is next to your Trimo pipe wrench but it could be a tool to dress grind stones. I took the liberty of lightening up one of your hammer pictures and some of them look like they could have been in a GMTK as well.

The tool box is...

...many of the tools seem to be from around the WW2 era and they are contained in the top tray of a Wartime GMTK toolbox.

As Don pointed out, it's not a toolbox, 8Ball, but the removable top tray. By the looks of the handle, either made by Hamilton or perhaps McAleer.

Do you have the box that the tray was in? Don, mrbill, Unaiu, gpw_42 and I and maybe a few other members I'm forgetting collect GMTK tools and boxes. A few of us have boxes with stenciling and tools that have unambiguous provenance, but finding tools and a box together is rare. There's a box in our community owned by an offboard guy that came with several proven GMTK tools. And I agree with Don that your stuff has that same feeling given that you say it was all acquired together. That doesn't mean that everything is WWII or that everything belongs in a WWII GMTK. We could help you with that if you keep posting tools in low numbers, a few or several at a time, close enough so that we can clearly see the shape and the markings.

I see a couple Drag Link Bits. (There were three (3) in a set). I see a putty knife. Handles for pliers. Those could also be wartime and GMTK.

Good eye, Don. That is indeed a dresser. FYI, 8Ball, that is not a GMTK tool, but it was part of several wartime tool-sets (3rd Echelon Sets No. 1 and 2, special Armored Forces sets) associated with depots where GMTKs would also be found. That and a few other non-GMTK issue tools in your stuff there probably came home with a mechanic or got surplussed together in the late 40's or early 50's when the Ordnance Dept unloaded a ton of stuff and the Army-Navy stores were born.

In that category, I am curious about the flaring kit. I have a small collection of them from various mfgrs and I don't recognize yours. Pease post photos and identify the brand.

Yes I have 2 boxes with 2 trays also since u mentioned it I have a few old locks and one of them is a Yale lock that says ordnance dept on the back ill shoot u a img of it, and ill get back to u on the flair kit, thanks alot, should I keep posting imgs here?

Thanks, and yes, I would keep posting here. Since it looks like the tools and boxes may be wartime surplus or at least together. Posting them by type or brand would be counterproductive to that, which is what unites them by subject here. This is going to be fun.

Cause both boxes are full of files and punches speeders ect

Maybe u can tell me what I have and what the value on something like this would be ... Its not exactly for sell but I would just like a ballpark so I know how carefully to treat it all to use it ect.

FWIW, in 1969, from the Ordinance Storage Area at Pirmasens, West Germany, I liberated one of those OD hip-roof boxes with the ordinance lock on it. It was a complete kit, but total bitsa; made up of a conglomeration of S-K, P&C, Bonney, Herbrand, Utica, Thorsen, Plomb, Blackhawk, et al.

Same with sames or hell idk I know I'm missing a few items but I also know where these tool boxes came from so I'm 99% they were ww2 and I'm pretty sure they were used in the war.
What I don't know is if what I have is something like wyrvin I know its wrong name but I forget y'all know who I'm talking bout

He had 41 original items . if I'm correctly assuming I have over 150 original items missing some cool ones like oil can n pump n grease gun but I got 300lbs of other **** lol

Btw the other tool box is not like the gmtk box it had at one time a leather strap I think and I believe that is the SK sticker one but I can't recall.

Y'all will like the full layout I think I only took pics of 20% maybe 30%

Just tell me how to lay em out n what I can use to number em ect like omg shack use to be

It doesn't really matter. If you click on the link I provided in post #4 last year when you originally started this thread, you'll see a layout from an early GMTK manual, and there are other, later layouts I could point you to. But I would recommend not worrying about that. You're not posting them for display, you're posting them for ID and validation. Just post photos of everything you have (EDIT: that came together originally with the boxes you think are wartime provenance) in groups of 3 or 4 tools, max. No large lots. By type (i.e., screwdrivers, pliers, hammers, 1/2-drive tools, etc), as much as possible, would be wise. (EDIT: try to find a place with more light on them than your original photos). I would be able to tell you if they're wartime and whether they belong in the GMTK or not in very short order. Don and a few others here as well.

Ok thanks for the idea ill prob do it like that and I haven't added to the boxes any, if anything I prob got a few mixed up with my other boxes while using them ill also post some of the paper stuff that came inside em there was a few little booklets note pads n such I took out and put away somewhere ill have to find em they might be of some interest, I thought they were pretty cool

That looks like it might be a wartime era SK 4000C. EDIT: Or a 4500? Although they were green, all their boxes were, and it's a commercial box. Main compartment and supports for a tote tray that goes under that hip roof top. The Navy and Air Corps used a chest that was a similar size and shape for their bigger general master sets, but it was cantilevered, with small, lidded compartments on both sides, and they came from Simonsen and Kennedy.

Thanks alot for the input guys , ill do my best to gently clean and derust some of the real bad ones and once I do that ill try to make a inventory of maker numbers size ect, will take a few days so when I get the time ill work on it best I can.

I'm just gonna post what was in the boxes and y'all can be the judge of what belongs and what dont, sadly I know I'm missing a few things I'd love to have. Like the oiler and the old hacksaw, ect tho it has the hacksaw blades in the bottom. Lol
