Hello. Thanks for the approval to join. I am looking for some advice or good sources on some tools we brought home after my father passed. Namely, socket wrench sets. Maybe this group is the wrong place to ask, so excuse the note if that is the case. Any referrals to an appropriate group would be great if that is the case. Beyond the sentimental aspect of some of this belonging to my father or possibly his father, I am wondering if there is anything special about them. Are they better than current sets? I think some pieces of each set might be missing but I have sets made by SK Wright (or also SK…….are they the same company?), Indestro, and Sri Lanka. Are these better than what you can buy now? Is it worth putting together a complete set of what might be missing for my son? Anyway, thanks in advance for any info or if anyone has suggestions for info. I started looking online but you know how those rabbit holes go. I was not sure what I was looking for.

putting together a set fro your son is a great idea, if he is inclined. if he has no interest in tools, he'd probably think they're junk

SK and Wright are two separate manufacturers, likely with two separate production lines if older.
Wright tools still exists and still makes tools in the USA.
SK was sold to a Chinese conglomerate, and supposedly still has a US made tool line, but there are still unknowns about this
Older tools from both manufacturers would likely have been USA made depending on date.
Indestro was a separate US manufacturer.
Sri Lanka, sounds like cheap imported tools, but have never heard of tools manufactured in the country.
Older tools from SK, Wright, and Indestro, are all probably well made and fully functional.
Whether they would be better than currently manufactured tools would be a long debate on this website.

Indestro, S-K, and Wright were all top-shelf product for the most part and some of the stuff is highly collectible, depending upon what it is and what sort of condition it's in - like most anything else. Only way to make any sort of determination there is with photos.
