For a lighting circuit I would like to use 1 feed for 3 switches in a 3 gang box. Is it proper to take the feed then use a pig tail to connect three wires to go back out of the box then loop back in for each switch? Seems this would give more room in the box then to try and keep the pig tail contained in the box? Or is there a more proper way to do this? Thanks for the help!

You only need to pigtail the hot wires from the feed, get the largest three gang box you can find. Their is a limit of wires/size allowed in certain size box. I have a few three gang switch boxes and it's easy to fit the wires in comared to three oultlets(12 guage wire BTW).
