Hey guys,

Sorry for the offtopic post, but I figure someone here will know.

My mom's termite inspector was in her crawlspace this week. He didn't find any termites. However, he did note that mom's 1970's era home does not have any insulation in the joist cavities under the subfloor. He is trying to sell her insulation. (I guess he's a multi-talented indvidual).

He tried to sell it based on the fact she is concerned about moisture in her crawlspace (which has been a problem in the past due to ground water issues). He said the kraft backed fiberglass would serve as a vapor barrier and help her heating costs too.

Mom called me, and I told her the polystyrene she had added to her crawlspace walls, along with the vapor barrier and waterproofing she has already had done should be sufficient and that any fiberglass insulation she added could ADD to any future water problem as it will wick and hold water and the paper backing could serve as a haven for mold growth.

Did I call that one right? This is in southern Indiana.

Phil
