I found three P&C number 6125 sockets at an estate sale today. These are 25/32" 12-point chrome deep sockets with 1/2" drive and a cross hole for a bar.

These were in a box with several other 25/32" deep sockets, a Snap-On, a Proto, and other USA brands.

Two of the P&C sockets have light roll stampings, and one has very deep roll stampings. Otherwise, they are identical. The 6125 was not listed in the 1953 P&C catalog, so either these are earlier, or they were special order, perhaps for the government.

Anyone know anything about these?

25/32 (at least in short, I guess there were 25/32 spark plugs))were deemed as counterproductive to the war effort, and dropped from most catalogs at that point. the '39 catalog specifies a 5/16 crossbar, the 48 catalog shows a thru hole, but makes no mention of size.

Im surprised you found a proto, does the Snap On have a date?

If the Snap-on is model SW-250, it will most likely be G date code If it's the SW-251 model, then anything after G date code.

I did not buy that socket, but left it for a Snap-On collector. It was high polish chrome, so I suspect that it wasn't a G code.

I suspect that these were from some government contract after WWII. All these sockets looked alike, except for maker's marks. :dunno:
