Patio sling spreader tool?

Hi all,

I replaced the fabric in two of our patio chairs and had a tough time getting the side bars spread apart enough to insert the spreader bars.

I made a jig out of 2x4’s and used C-Clamps to spread them apart enough.

Now I have ten more to do and was looking for a way that would work better.

What have you guys used?

I used a couple reversible quick grip clamps, worked pretty good.

My neighbor had a similar problem and borrowed my Harbor Freight PortaPower to spread it apart.
Said it worked OK, but the rubber bumper crumbled and he had to get a replacement from China.
I haven't used my HF hydraulic kit since, because my teen drivers are grown up now.
