They don't say how it retains the bit. I would prefer for it to have a magnet inside, but they don't say.

It’s magnetic.

The “M” on the end of the part number indicates this, but they don’t offer the Swissgrip bit drivers in anything other than magnetic config.

The Classic handles come with an option of spring clip retention or magnetic, but the magnetic is preferable I would suggest.

Some people prefer magnetic, others not.
One annoyance with magnetic, is if you use the driver in an area with rust or steel splinters or dust.
A strongly magnetized bit will attract all the iron and steel dust in the area onto the bit tip.

This is all true.

In the case of the PB Swiss I don’t like the version with the retaining clip that much.

I appreciate there are cases when you might not be able to use the magnetic, but the spring clip is a bit crude by PB Swiss standards, and the bits can be difficult to remove.

The magnetic version with the Classic handle is my favourite bit driver of all time. Simple but effective, and a joy to use.

PB Swiss also offers a stainless steel magnetic bit holding interchangeable blade for their 215/8215 series and torque handles.
Available in 140mm (PB 215.M-140) or 180mm (PB 215.M-180).

I'm in love with that SwissGrip handle shape.
