Pex elbow male adapter design change

The older elbow design made it easier to get a wrench on from any angle.

The new design a wrench only works from the bottom.

Saves material and money, but not a good idea.

Brand is Xfitting.

Sharkbite and Apollo are only selling the new design as far as I can tell.

Exactly what I was thinking...you would probably be using a Crescent wrench on the hex anyway, I don't think you could get a box wrench on the hex.

Fitting change if they can save a penny a fitting they will. Supply houses 30 years ago might keep a few boxes of the old design just for tight spaces. No more if a product sits on a shelf 90 days and they don't sell any goes on a discount table never to be seen again. If it doesn't move they don't need to carry it. Everything is bar coded they know exactly what there inventory is.
