Phase Converter/ VFD ? Press

I have a heat transfer press that I need to hook up in my shop. I right now just have the standard 115v to the garage. The press is a 220v 3ph machine. There is one motor that is a 1hp 3ph , another small motor that runs a roller that is 1.13a , and heating elements to heat up the rollers to about 250deg. Ive been hearing some talk about VFD from 115 to 220 3 ph but seems like that may only work to a single motor if there is nothing else conected ? Or to run 220 to the shop and get a phase converter , will that even work? 3ph from the power company is not avalible. Anyone have a answer? Thanks

They have VFDs now that will go 120 to 3ph for up to 1hp
Sounds like you need to use 2 VFDs

As above - the VFD has to control a motor directly. A cheaper solution may well be something like a 5 hp rotary phase converter.

Called Phase - o -matic they clamed I needed the CNC version due to 2 different motors and the heating unit and would handle the 32a, price about $3500 (wow). So i looked on CL and found a guy with just that for $1500, he told me that it would be total over kill for what Im looking for , he told me he used to have a 5hp phase converter and ran like 6 things at the same time just fine. He told me that as long as the converter was over the hp of my press motors together and did the 32amps I needed Id be good. Im almost more confused , I cant afford to buy somthing that wont work. HELP!!!

I'm no expert here but you should be fine with a rotary converter. The rotary takes a 3 phase motor and applies 240v to it and the third phase generates the third phase. after that you can drive as many motors as the wattage for the converter will supply. I'm guessing here that the heater load will not affect the the output of the converter but I've no experience with running a pure resistive load on a rotary. I'm sure though that a VFD will not drive the machine.
