...I'm not a man of wealth and I have questionable taste.
I registered here last year after finding this site attempting to repair my my old floor jack.
After raising the family, I was closing in on retirement when life threw me a twist that resulted in an early retirement. The wife soon followed suit and now we're heading into the best years of our lives.
Part of our plan is to relocate closer back to our home turf a couple hours south of where we currently reside in far nor cal, to al little closer to mid far nor cal (I make a distinction about this as I now understand Stockton and Fresno claim nor cal status.:)
We've finally found a place to buy (talk about a tough time to find a decent home) and find ourselves planning improvements that will make our new place ours.
My principal hobby (besides family, hunting and fishing, home improvements, gardening and landscape and I can do only so much of those activities) is maintaining our vehicles and restoring cars and furniture (that will not be done in the shop I am now planning).
Thus, I find myself back here on the GJ seeing words of wisdom and lessons learned. I'm posting a rough plan I have for my new shop (the whip allows me to call it that), I'm not sure which forum I should use, but will figure it out now.
I'll appreciate any and all help and suggestions and will offer my help when I'm confident I might have something useful to contribute.
Great site, I'm looking forward to spending time here.

Great site, I'm looking forward to spending time here.

Welcome

Can we assume that you now live in Bend, Oregon and are looking to get back across the border? Honest to god I think we should cede that town to Cali.

Hello and welcome srt. Nice introduction. Sounds like we have lots of similarities. A pleasant surprise of retirement a couple of years earlier than planned, followed by relocation from the Midwest to Colorado (to be closer to our daughter), we moved to our CO home in May and have been "making it ours" since then (as you noted.. in the most difficult Real Estate market in memory), and we're just wrapping up a steel frame building project on the property. Fair warning though, this site can be addictive! Good Luck.

Thank you for the welcome!
Somewhat clode to bend, yet further soouth in the upper reached of cal and well within Jefferson State.
I've thought of a steel frame garage as the price and speed it may be constructed are attractive. I'm a little concerned about condensation. Do you percieve and problems?

srt: My response may not be typical since my climate is very arid. Folks I talked to around here voiced no concerns over condensation and I went with the insulation package. I've only had the building up and closed in for about a month now but nothing yet would suggest a potential problem. Regards,
