lol agreed but it would be finny seeing there reaction in some wayCan you say deep sh*t? It's odd, you can get a concealed carry permit in Michigan for a handgun, but get caught with a knife like yours and you're in for it.
Buck 110. Not only does it work well for a knife and a screw driver, it's a pretty good improvised hammer, too. I bet y'all would never be able to unstick a carburator float with one of those fancy lightweight knives!![]()
Dont hold back Bolster! Your right though.
I see some really sub-standard knife steel in this thread. Sorry but it needed to be said. (And some of you are carrying quality steel, so no offense intended your direction.)
Stay away from those horrible 320, 410, 420, 420HD, 420J2, 440A, 12C27, 8cr13mov, AUS-4, AUS-6, GIN-1 stainless steels. They have two advantages: doesn't rust, making a 'pretty' knife; and it's soft enough the mfg'r can stamp it from a blank, and make it cheap. It's OK for a collector-only knife, but for real use you need to get a modern stainless steel that can't be blank stamped. If it's stainless and the mfgr doesn't say what kind of steel it is, YOU probably have a knife with cheap, bendy steel that won't stay sharp through even a modest task.
My favorite knife is my Benchmade auto-opener I was issued. It's a DAMN good knife.
Some of the best stainless steel knives come from Seki-City Japan. I think all of spyderco knives are made from that steel.

Awfully nice knife to be used as a hammer. Trouble is, up here at least, a Buck 110, Gerber Combat Folder, Spyderco Police model, SOG Tomcat or anything else with a blade length over 3 1/2" will get the attention of the local LEOs, and anything full auto is guaranteed jail time.
It appears that most people don't give a hoot about the steel in their knife. In fact, even in this thread, you find almost zero curiosity about steel grades.![]()

Slightly off topic but may be a good idea for you guys getting married. I bought a nice lot of Kershaws for all the men in my wedding party and had their names engraved on them.
I wanted something that was different, manly and useful. I got one for myself too. wish I had a picture of in handy.
Feel free to steal the idea if you like it. The boys all loved them.
Got two more for my dad and hers as well (hers happens to collect knives and ALWAYS has one on hand, I think this one became his "dress" knife.

Just curious for all you Knife/Law guys. How serious is it to be caught with a switch blade? I was thinking about carrying one strictly for protection when we go downtown, etc. I want something that if I need it quick it's there. But if I were pulled over and happened to be search, I don't want to go to jail either.
