I've been researching buildings to decide what to build, and after seeing a Morton I think I've decided on a pole barn type. Anyone here build one, and have some build pics?

I just built one. Pretty simple but make sure you get everything straight (upright) and level. Here's a trick: wrap the poles with 24" aluminum flashing about 18" off the ground to keep rats and snakes from crawling up into the rafters. Thay can't traverse the slick metal. I also ran a belt line of 2x6s around the inside to keep anything (errant tractor, etc.) from bashing up my pretty new metal. Put some translucent panels up top for light. Set your windows up high so no one can easily crawl through. Consider foam board insulation under the roof panels to keep condensation from raining in your barn. Don't forget the mini fridge.

Hi James,
I am considering 3 different manufactures of pole barns, Morton buildings, Conestoga buildings, & Stockade buildings. I think Conestoga's web site has a build video that shows start to finish what it looks like going up. Hope that helps yopu out.

The framing looks so simple I might not go with a builder or kit. Morton is nice but really pricey. Theres a metal roof place nearby that sells the siding, cut to fit, so I may try to price it out on my own. I'd have to hire out the concrete, but a pole design keeps that as minimal as possible.Neblinc-- was yours a kit?

I'm building mine without a kit, 30x48x14 partially enclosed (for now). got 10 power poles from a buddy at the power co. (free), trusses should be up by end of March. Another buddy just built one like i'm doing, so he's passed along alot of tips/help.

I just signed a deal on a 36' x 56' with FBi two days ago.

if you dont mind my asking, what kind of price and what did it include (site prep, erection, concrete, etc)? I'm trying to price out a building as well, and comparative data is always welcome.

Here is a couple of mine, And also some of my buddies, who had a little problem shortly after he built it. If you have any doubts about any trees around it cut them down before you build. he wished he had.

Cj- nice shop.....and OUCH!! What are the dimensions of your shop? What's the spacing on your trusses? Was it a kit or company or scratch built?

Cj-- That's exactly what I want to build. Mind if I ask what you had in the basic dried in slabed building? Feel free to post anymore pics
I had it built by a local contractor, that's all the does is pole barns. I had 14400 in the building with 6" concrete insulation and both over head doors, and dirt work. I'll see what I can do for pics I don't have many digital.

Here is a few more maybe.

Cj-- that's the best deal I've heard. I was looking 30 x 40-48, with the doors on one end, so yours is a dead ringer for what I want. What part of the country are you located?
