So I have used the polyurea plus sand mixture on basement slab cracks (looked at Xtreme Set 100 but seemed too much for my needs so went with Slabweld). I'm trying to sand it down so I started with a masonry block with two sides 60/90 grit that works ok, but it's slow going. I did finish sanding the easiest crack repair of about 4 feet using the masonry block and it looks and feels great.
Unfortunately, there are a few places that didn't get super scraped down since my father-in-law and myself are noobs with this stuff, and with a significant amount hardened mixture on the surface that would have to be ground down that I found would take too much time to hand sand for the amount of crack repair I have. Though I may keep it in mind if I need to punish a teenager in the future.
I'm looking for tool recommendations to clear this up. I'm not planning to apply any coatings, just looking to smooth out the surface since I plan to finish the basement in a year or two. If I can apply a tool to get rid of most of the excess and hand smooth the finish with the masonry block, I'd be good with that. I don't have a powered sander or angle grinder, but would be willing to try it out.
With the masonry block, I can sand without kicking up a lot of dust, but I'm probably going to have to get some painter sheets to block off sections around to try to keep the dust from spreading out. Basement has got a lot of storage, so don't really want to move everything out.
I could see myself doing a 20x20 garage slab coat of some kind after some other projects are done, so if I can get a tool that would down the road be useful for that prep work, that would be an added bonus.
