Power tool storage ideas??

So, how/where do ya'll store your power tools (skilsaw, drill, scrollsaw, compound mitre, sanders, heat gun, recipracting saw, etc)? Right now I have them stuffed temporarily on a shelf under my workbench in my basement - ugh!. Looking for a cleaner/better space planning idea when these get moved to the garage. Tool chest? cabinet? pegboard?

In metal boxes on a shelf. (Although using file drawers is a good idea.)

I try to buy tools that come with boxes, and am willing to pay extra for them.

in tool box drawers. Only ones that need deep drawers are the skill saws. Keeps them out of dust and clumsy people messing with them.

fortunatly my garage has built in cabinets and I love having most of my tools in a case of their own. so, I keep them in the cabinets in their cases

For the ones that dont have cases, I purchased a big old heavy 5 drawer file cabinetat an auction, for $5 it was kinda rusty around the bottom edges so I gave it a quick spray bomb paint job. So far the drawers are holding up good, I put the white lithium grease to the slides.

I use inxpensive ($5-$10) tool boxes for power tools that did not come with cases. This lets me keep bits, saw blades, chucks and other accesories with the tool and it also makes them portable for work away from the shop.

Good tip - I like it. Keeps the cords from getting tangled with other tools too.

I use a metal filing cabinet. It works great and can be picked up cheap at used office furniture stores. Mine was a freebie rescued from the dumpster at work.

I use Small canvas tool bags - Holds tool and accessories for those without their own box.

Cheap plastic or metal tool boxes is a great idea too. Then you could stack them!

Milk crates tipped on their sides, on the shelves. Make your own cubby holes.

I've got the same problem, and I just now came up with that idea!

I also use milk crates to stack spray cans on their sides--that way they're all readily accessible, and you can get them without pulling half the cans off your shelf before finding the right one.

I'm a case man myself.I like keeping all of the accessories and spares for a power tool with the tool.I grap one box and I've got every thing for that tool with me.Makes it easier to grab what you need when running over to a friends house to help out.If I don't have a case for the tool,I set up a surplus ammo can with all the accessories and spares and keep it with the tool.

Those plastic cases always seem to crack at the hinge.
