I have 3 Liftmaster 8500W door operators and all 3 of the master control (880LMW) will not reset after a power failure. The message on the display says to hold the button to reset, however, this will not work. I have tried unplugging the units, and they will not work from the master control. They will work from the car control and the wireless wall control. There is a sticker on the control that refers you to the installation manual, however, my problem isn't addressed in the manual. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks, Junk

I have five of these units. On two I had problems with the wall buttons. They immediately sent me replacement units. Their customer service treated me very well, hopefully you will be treated the same.

Do you have the back up battery? Disconnect it before cycling power?

Ditto. I had an issue with the overhead light not turning off. Their customer service immediately sent me replacement parts.

I called Liftmaster first thing this morning, and got a "tech" person that was reading off a preprogrammed script, and had no idea of how to resolve the problem. His final suggestion was to push the learn button to see if that would clear the problem. I have 3 doors that all have the same problem and still no solution in sight.

I got 2 of them working today by unplugging the units and then plugging them back in and immediately pushing the opener button. The 3rd one is being stubborn and will not reset. I installed new batteries in 2 of them, the one that did reset and the other one that still won't reset. I think that it might be a defective control.

When I reached out to Liftmaster, it was via email. I explained the issue in detail, and they quickly responded with the appropriate parts shipped to me.

Spent some time with a low-tech technician at Liftmaster. Do this, do that, etc., and each time she had to put me on hold to get additional information from someone else in the technical troubleshooting department. Finally came down to tell me to put the wall control on a 1' piece of wire and then disconnect the wire that goes to the wall control to verify if it is a wiring issue. I pointed out that if there was a break in the wire, the control wouldn't light up. I just had a hip replacement and didn't want to get on a ladder to do this, so tomorrow I will have a friend come over to do this last test. I asked if this test the control still doesn't work, then what is it? She put me on hold again, and then came back to tell me that the logic board might have failed. The door operator is only about 6 months old, and that doesn't sound right to me, but we will see what tomorrow brings. I already swapped out the original control with one that is in a door operator box that has yet to be installed. At least this one lights up, whereas the other just gave me a message to refer to the instruction manual.

To revive this thread again. I am having this same exact issue and spoke with the “tech” today and they are sending me a new logic board. Were you ever able to fix your issue? If so, what was the fix?
