When I bought my house last year, the garage floor was very smooth and I was told it had a water sealant applied to it... which seemed to be true since water usually does just puddle-up on the floor. After one winter of parking my cars in the garage with a LOT of road salt falling off the cars, the area where the cars park isn't as smooth any more. The salt seems to have etched the top layer of concrete a little. The floor isn't in bad shape by any means, but I'm concerned that if the salt continues to eat away at the surface of the concrete, it won't be long before the floor is turned into a pitted, chipped-up mess.
* Since my garage floor already has some kind of water proof sealant on it, can I apply more sealant or will the old sealant just repel the new stuff?
* Will waterproofing the concrete be enough to prevent the salt from ruining the floor over time?
* What brand of waterproofing sealant works? My local hardware stores only seem to carry small buckets of brands like Thompsons Water Seal and the like. I thought the Quikrete product shown below looked promising because claims to protect against gas and oil spills, but I can't find any real detailed information on it:
