Proto 352A hacksaw replacement pin

I have this older proto hacksaw, its really nice except for the pin that holds the blade to the adjuster is missing. i slid a little screw in there from my RC car days, but it doesnt last long before breaking or wearing through.

is there a common replacement for these little pins? i immagine its somthing that is hardened? i tried a quick search online but cant seem to locate any replacement parts for this hacksaw. im not even sure what its supposed to look like, this was in my fathers toolbox, and im guessing its been broken for quite a while since there was also 2 or 3 of the cheapy noname hardware store hacksaws in there too.

You can call Stanley/Proto. This model was in production for many years with bot the Proto and Stanley names. However, you can probably find a complete hack saw for less than the cost of a replacement part.

You could try replacing the pin with the shank of a drill bit.
Dremel ceramic cut off wheels work well on hardened steel.
Pick the size that is just a hair big and grind a slight taper on the end.
Probably easier to taper it before nipping it off...
Then pound it into the hole.

Last time I needed one of those I went to the used tool store or pawn shop and grabbed a hacksaw from from the dollar bin that had one that would fit.

never thought about calling proto. i just automatically assume that this old stuff isnt supported anymore. dome great suggestions though if i cant find a replacement part. thanks!

Yep, Last time I needed one, that is what I did, found a junk one that still had the pin.

I use hardened bolts like a grade 8 cut to length with dremel or cut off disc.
roll pin and dowel work for a while till the hole slops out if you know anybody in the aircraft industry a Monel rivet works too. Ive done that in the past.
Depends how much you love that saw. Take it to a local machine shop and I'll bet somebody there will bang a pin into it free of charge.
