Proto Fleet and partial set of ???

Picked these up this weekend. The fleet looks unused and the other one is stumping me. Does anyone recognize the label? The Proto does not seem high end like their older stuff.

I don't see a Proto set. Am I missing something? All I see is a Fleet set that hasn't been available for what 30 years? and even then it was Proto's entry level stuff and never intended to be typical Proto quality.

Sorry, look closely above Fleet it says Proto I never saw or heard of Fleet that's why I posted it thinking it was low end proto. And I said it looks not high end.

While Proto has had many other lines through the years, in recent history their budget lines have included Fleet, Challenger, and Blackhawk.

Not saying there aren't or haven't been some gems in those lines, but they were historically a step down from the Proto line.

We used to sell Challenger & Proto. From what I remember Proto had a polished finish while the Challenger had a satin finish. And both were quality tools with the same warranty. I wouldn't hesitate to buy Challenger. The Proto was just prettier & more expensive. I don't know about Fleet or Blackhawk.

Thinking about it, it was the wrenches that were satin chrome. Almost a sand look in the handle area. The heads were polished. I worked there in the 80s, so the memory is a little slow in opening up.

I'm still using my Challenger stuff. Never broke a wrench.

I have a number of Fleet sockets and also Proto sockets and a few Challenger. I wouldn't say the Fleet are bad in any way. True Proto = Wright = SK = Snap-On = New Britain = Indestro = MAC = Blackhawk quality level to me, super highest end of quality. Fleet or Challenger I'd say is more like Craftsman V, still very very good stuff, just not Proto. I have sets of sockets with various US brands in it. I have Snap-Ons and Wrights and Indestros and Protos and New Britains on the same rail as some Fleet and Craftsman V. They all get along just fine and got there very economically over time too to complete a set! - Paul

Here's a couple of Proto and Fleet 4" adjustables.
Both are from the late 60's to early 80's time frame.
The Proto has had additional finishing steps done.
I doubt it's much better otherwise.
