Thread titles can only be changed by a mod.Once you hit enter the title is the title forever.

Actually like caper said, the moderators have to change it. So after you sell something, then you PM a Mod and they have to change the title; that isn't going to happen.

I do like the advice Mark gave (and mtwaterguy as well) to put "SOLD" as the first word in a post or somewhere prominent in the first post to show that the items are gone.

i didnt know that.

I have started only one thread before this one...So I went to that thread, clicked edit, clicked go advanced, and it let me edit my title. I didnt save the edit, but it let me change the title. So i assumed you could change the title, and then save the edit.

its not a major problem...but it is a problem to add the word "sold" to a thread to save your fellow forums users some time?

But, does it need to be a part of the rules for posting in the classifieds? Currently, the rules are short and sweet, and this site has one of the better classified sections on the web, as far as I am concerned.

Let's have other members chime in. But my opinion is that it should be a suggestion, not a rule.

I just tried changing my old walden autopsy thread to a walden teardown thread and it showed changed at the time but when you search it comes up as the original walden autopsy.

It doesn't need to be a rule, the mods have more than enough to do than remind people to post "sold" in their "for sale" posts. If a member wants to do it out of courtesy then that's their decision. I'd much rather see our frequent sellers selling rather than worrying about saving someone a few minutes of his precious time.

I'm still trying to get the title of a thread edited.I can go thru all the steps you said and I can change the title in the first post but when you look at it it only changes the first post of the thread not the title itself.If your looking at the board the original title shows and when you click on it the edited title shows in the first post.I may be doing something wrong,if so let me know,I know some members have tried to edit their thread titles in the past and been unable to do it.

Snappy, Ive noticed all your ads since I spent all day today browsing the classifieds and came across a 5-10 of your ads and they were all updated, and I thank you for that.

I wasnt trying to point anyone out, and I realize the "rule" request came off as harsh. I frequent a different forum with over 100,000 posters and they have that rule. But then again, I would rather it not be a rule now that I think about it.

I would just like a sticky here with the instructions on how to do it and a request to update it.

Hey I don't disagree with having sold in the title.I think it would be great if it's possible,it would save me alot of time.I really appreciate when guys edit their first post with what has sold and what's still available.Saves me alot of time scrolling thru the whole thread.

This is what I usually do, although I did slip up in my Herbrand combos thread and put it in a new reply at the bottom.

When you have a FS post with many items, you can't add SOLD to the title or first line until every single thing is gone, anyway, so putting it next to each individual item is all you can do.

Just put Sold net to your pic or part number. Not all that hard.

I Dont see why the newbies feel the need to start changing things around here.
