So I got Mr. Heater all mounted up and ready to go except for the thermostat wire. I power it up and all is good.
Next I start to run my thermostat wire. I connect the red and white to their appropriate connections on the circuit board and then start stringing the rest of the wire over to the thermostat. Before I hook up the wire to the thermostat, I power up Mr. Heater again and instantly it blows the 3Amp fuse.
I look over my 2 wires I hooked up to make sure nothing is touching or anything dumb and throw a new fuse in. Power it up and it blows again.
This time I disconnect the two thermostat wires and power it up with a new fuse and all is good. Now I'm thinking that the wires must be shorted somewhere in my length of thermostat wire so I quickly check the other end of the wire to make sure the wires aren't touching on that end and also checked continuity between the two wires and everything looks good.
As a quick test, I cut off a 2' length from the other end and wire up the thermostat right next to Mr. Heater. Throw the power and everything is good. Mr. Heater LIVES for the first time.
Back to the original problem.....
I take off my 2' section and run the rest of the original thermostat wire. Wire it up to the thermostat and mount the thermostat. Throw the power and fuse blows instantly again!
I'm at a loss as to what could be wrong. The only thing I can think to do now is to pull out all the thermostat wire and replace it as something has to be wrong with it. Is there anything I'm missing??????
Sorry for the book, wanted to make sure I got all the details in there.
