Question regarding paint flakes/chips

Hi all -

I have been lurking for a while and reading past threads like crazy in preparation of putting my epoxy-coat down in the garage. It has been quite a journey and learning experience (more on that later) and this forum has been an absolute lifesaver.

My garage is cleaned, grinder and ready for the application. I planned on putting it down this afternoon. However, I am realizing that I like the look of a medium to heavy flake coating and recently discovered that what comes in the epoxy-coat kit is for a light coverage (makes sense).

Would it be okay to mix my epoxy-coat flakes with flakes from Rocksolid, Rustoleum or Valspar? I know it would be ideal to order from epoxy-coat but (despite all my planning) this a last minute idea. Before doing so I just wanted to make sure that there wouldn't be any negative effects in doing so. (With my luck the paint chips would bleed or something). If it is not a good idea I will stick with the light coating of flakes.

I will write a longer post about this project, what I learned during this process (a lot!) and some pics of the finished project later this week.

Thanks!

Chad

It's OK to mix the flakes. Many of the flakes marketed by companies under different names come from the same manufacturer anyway.
