I am getting ready to redo my garage and have been debating between epoxy and tile. The epoxy is cheaper, but I have a garage full of stuff and the tiles will go in much faster and easier.
Before I go for tiles, I was hoping to try and get some answers to some questions I still have about tiles.
1. How bad do the tiles buckle in the heat/sun? Does anyone have any pictures or links to pictures? My garage directly faces the west, so it has direct sun the whole afternoon. I have read that direct sun causes the buckling at the garage door opening the worst.
2. Do the tiles hold up to motorcycle kickstands well? This is a sport bike so the footprint of the kickstand is about the size of a quarter.
3. Since this is a floating floor, should the tiles stop before things like rolling cabinets, toolboxes, refrigerator, etc. so the floor is not “pinned down” along the sides or will I be safe taking the floor wall to wall.
4. Looking at bigfloors.com, there is a tile called garagetrac. Does anyone know how this compares to racedeck or swisstrax. The garagetrac is only 1.98 a tile and I have almost 720 sqft to cover so I want to keep the cost down.
5. Swisstrax has a tile on sale for 1.79. Does anyone know which tile they offer that is on sale for this price?
