I made a post earlier in the week about getting a quincy 325-12. Well I picked it up today and it's in awesome condition! It fills up the 80 gallon tank in just a few minutes even with a minor air leak in the copper pipe, the inside of the tank looks good for it's age it's stamped 1971, it didn't make any knocks or crazy noises and is super quiet standing next to it. The guy said he had it inspected about a year ago by a compressor shop and they told him it passed with flying colors. The only thing I've noticed is a oil leak around the dip stick cover does it have a gasket there?20241201_151223(0).jpg

Very nice! Make sure you drain the tank every day or it will blow up! Just kidding, but you would think that's the case after reading some threads about compressors.

I have exactly the same compressor , only horizontal tank . I have worked on and rebuild many different brands of air compressors in my working years . You have the best , piston compressor built . Later models had a screw on oil filter . This would be a nice up grade . Early models had cast iron rods , later alloy rods . Change the tank check valve or rebuild yours , is a good idea .

I'll change the valve it looks old..is there a gasket behind the dip stick cover? It leaking a bit. I'm gonna take it off to clean the sump anyway

That’s a great compressor! The newer Quincy’s have a plastic dip stick, either a pressure fit ( with an oring seal) or threaded…The big ones at my workplace are threaded, with and oring.

Your’s probably is metal? It should have an oring and if so, it’s probably all dried out.

Mine had a copper washer under the dipstick. It was ancient when I got it, so I don't know if that was original. But it did not leak. You could make one from a plastic notebook cover.

Mine is metal and it needs a new oring. But it looks like it's leaking from around the inspection plate not the dip stick
