Racedeck Floor and Woodworking

Just wondering if anyone that is into woodworking has a race deck floor? Any issues or concerns with woodshavings/sawdust ?

Bumping an old thread, but is it slippery when dusty? I have a crumbling concrete floor and I think that racedeck might be the answer, but I might also just go get some 4x6 rubber horse mats and lay a bunch of those down. Either way would be better than what I currently have.

I tried the horse stall mats and found the issue to be that they are not precision-cut so edging them next to each other left small gaps. That, and they're REALLY heavy and not that nice to walk on. Cheap interlocking foam tiles are nice for woodworking shops unless all your heaviest equipment is on casters and needs to be mobile.

I would guess that plastic interlocking floors would be slippery, and would trap a lot of sawdust between cracks. Depends on how much woodworking you do I think.

edit: If your floor is pretty shot and only used for woodworking, perhaps sleepers and plywood floor is the way to go.

Thanks for the reply. I have thought about the plywood and sleepers route as well. Thanks for the feedback onthe horse stall mats, that takes another option off the table.

I bought my property wiht two old large buildings that need a lot of work. 36x96 * anything per square foot is a lot of $$...

Buddy of mine has four horses and stalls for them. Concrete floor, rubber mats on the concrete for the horses to stand on. I agree with the former post, these mats are great for horses, not so nice for people except to walk across to do chores in the stalls. For working, i. e. standing on and using tools, nope.

I don't have RaceDeck, never heard of it til joining the forum a few months back. However, every post I've read about it indicates that materials such as sawdust/chips are no problem. Clean up with shop vacuum. Plus, moving table saws etc. on dollies also no problem. [Though as I said, I don't have it so cannot give a direct report.]

Might wanna call RD and chat. See what they say.

This is bang on, i have it and it easily cleanable with a simple shop vac then a quick mop.
