My shop/garage with radiant heat is currently about 60F. We will be away from home for about 5-6 days over the holidays.

Which is more efficient: turn off the system entirely, or leave the system running with the thermostat set at some temperature?

I don't have a definative answer but it seems reasonable on a cost basis to maintain a temp for 6 days instead of firing a cold system up. It also depends on your fuel source. Obviously an electric system is not as effecient as NG and Lp is a little less than that, so yo would have to weigh those factors.

More to consider,,,If you are not using glycal in the system freezinf could be a factor depending where you live.

I would turn it down to 50 and be done with it
