Reading Sawzall Serial numbers

I would like to date my new-to-me Sawzall, using the serial number. So far I haven't found the place that says how to do that. Also hard to find is the supposed accessory "Offset blade adapter" that allows you to make flush cuts. I know you guys have the answers. The saw is really smooth like a new one.
