Hey everyone,
First post!
Just moved into a new home in South Florida with an attached 3 car garage. Home is about 18 months old but was a builder model so garage floor is still "new" but at this point should be done with curing and any potential cracks or shifts.
Previous home had a floor that was a DIY epoxy that looked great for a while but then started lifting under the tires a bit after about 4 years. Now I'm exploring all options with this home.
I noticed the surface though appears to be more smooth than I've usually seen. If I were to go with epoxy would I have to diamond grind or would acid etching by itself be acceptable?
I'm also considering just using a stain, would that require any additional prep since this floor is so smooth? Note though in my photos that I do have a few "divots" where there is exposed roughness underneath.
Also thinking about plastic tiles, ceramic, and even vinyl. But prefer the permanent nature of the epoxy and stained solutions. Just want to do what I can do avoid grinding because that can introduce dust into our home that we'll have to clean up for years to come.
Thanks for the advice in advance!
