I have two fluorescent lights in my garage which are operated by a switch in the house. At the other end of the garage is a track light that the previous owners installed. To operate the track light, you have to climb up on a ladder and plug it into the outlet that the garage door opener also plugs into. I want to be able to control this light via a switch. I know I could crawl up into the attic and fish wires and install a new box with a switch, etc... But this is one of those times where I might choose "easy" instead of "best". I'm getting tired of renovating.
Anyway, I know they make an electrical outlet that can be controlled via a remote. My thought is to swap out the existing outlet with the remote controlled outlet and place the remote controller on the wall near the door going into the house. Half of the outlet would have to be "always on" so that the garage door opener can be plugged in and always have power.
Have any of you used a remote controlled outlet? If so, what brand? Where did you find it? I'd be interesting in hearing someone say they have one and it works well before I go out and buy one.
Thanks!
