Rented a Toro from Sunbelt, they had problems starting it with its little wonky key. They dropped the key in the mower and had to find another one. Take the key out while mowing so it doesn't fall out I'm told, i tie it to a piece of rope. I haul it to my shop and it won't crank, finally starts but these no pin for the deck height. I find a bolt/nut and mow for a few hours. Mowing along and mower gets louder so I shut off the blade clutch, turn it back on and blade no workie.
I lift the belt cover and the tensioner spring isn't attached. It's 106 out and I'm able to to get the belt/spring back on but time to end all this fun. I return to the shop Saturday check the oil, fill the tank and mow 20 minutes and the same thing happens again. The belt has a big split in it now, call the after hours service and a tech calls me back but no belt until Monday.

I have a similar Toro and it's by no means sturdy enough to be a rental unit.

As to the key, any small screwdriver inserted in the slot will turn the switch.

Talk about the heat. It's going to be 108 today. It's about that now according to my shop outdoor temp. I was going to mow too. Not now. I'm trying to grill some chicken and the thing caught on fire from the grease in the catch pan. Can't even do that properly now.

Will Sunbelt, or other rental companies like them, reimburse you for a tool that didn't work as advertised through no fault of your own?

Between Stinnett and Amarillo, I'm surprised that there's anything green to mow...

Sounds like typical rental equipment to me. Sorry you've had so much trouble with it. They should refund some, or all, of your rental fee for your trouble.

While on the phone with the on call tech, he mentioned scheduling another rental time with this Toro mower, I politely declined. He asked why and I stated this, this and this, he said Oh!
