This is my battery for my 3 year old B & D battery operated yard tools and all of them use the same 36 volt battery. They are for a B & D string trimmer, blower, and hedger.....

I think the 36 volt lithium battery tools are being phased out now and are being replaced with the 40 Volt units. I found one 36 V battery on Amazon for $129.99 and one on Ebay for over a $100.00 + .. :scared:

One of my three batteries will no longer take a charge. When I plug it in the charger, the charger's red light immediately goes in the red flash mode indicating a problem, and it will not take a charge. ....

Anyone on here have these tools ? Will the 40 volt battery even plug in to my tools ? If so, I wonder if the newer 40 volt battery will damage my 36 volt tools ? ...

I really like my battery operated yard tools and they still work great. I sure do not want to have to buy new ones . Thanks

I doubt that it will plug in. They want to force you to buy all new tools.

If you can get a 40V to battery to connect to your tools, I would be VERY surprised it it would cause any harm to the tool.

Dewalt 20V Max batteries have same voltage as 18V Dewalt batteries, just a marketing gimmick and may be the same situation with 36V vs 40V

I have been using my Dewalt 18V Lithium batteries in my 14.4V Impact Gun for a long time, with no apparent ill effects, it just runs a little faster and has more power.

Ducks face said it. Six of one, half dozen of the other.

Your 36 volt battery is really a 41.3 volt battery.
So is the 40 volt battery.
Test your 36 for proof.

Yep ....right on DF, my 36 V battery full charged reads 41.4 volts. I will take my string trimmer to Lowes today to see if their 40V will plug in to it. thanks, all

I doubt it will plug in but you maybe able to transfer the guts to your original case. Bring a tape measure with you and know your original battery dimensions.
