Replace chimney with stove pipe?

I have an old block garage that needs a new roof for the lean-to portion hanging off the back of it.

The building is block, hip roof, slat and asphalt. The lean-to will be new 16' 2x6 out to some 4x6 posts and a double 2x6 header. Wrapped in corrugated barn steel. I'll be tying into the rafters above the ledger and into the roof every 16" on the existing rafters and then out to the posts.

There's an addition that valleys right into the corner of the block chimney (on the outside off the block wall). I was going to move the valley once I put up the new roof, but my buddy said, "why don't you just tear it down and put in a stove pipe instead. I have a wood burning stove and plan to use it.

What kind of kits/materials/opinions/options/advice is there for this option? Do they sell kits for this type of thing?

That kit does not come with any pipe so you will need that as well. All components of a factory built chimney need to be the same brand, you cannot mix and match brands so make sure you get everything you need from the same place.

You will need a insulated stainless lined Class A chimney for a wood stove if you intend to have a safe one. Same as used on oil or coal, single wall flue to the point it exits the wall, then double wall insulated. You need enough height to get a good draft. The insulated chimney pipe helps with this greatly, probably will work better than the block chimney you have now.

I have Duravent with my used oil furnace, but there is no real difference in what you need except for the damper setup. Flue pipe and chimney, adapters, either thru the wall or thru the roof like in the link above, total will cost you upwards of $1500 depending on where you buy it.

Selkirk Ultra-Temp is the best pipe on the market. Stainless inside and out. You should easily be able to do it for under $ 1,000. Straight up is the best for draft, cleaning, and cost.

$1,000! Yikes. I only need 3' above the roof (hip roof) and the bottom of my trusses will only be about 36" from the peak.

I am thinking I need the following:

1. Support box.
1a. Starter ring thing.
2. Roof flashing
3. Rain cap
4. (2) 36" Pipes or 48" Here

I think I might just buy the kit mentioned above and install the insulation guard even though it wont be insulated.

Any install tips? See any issues with this plan?

Roof support package- this is a 18" piece of all fuel pipe with wings that will rest on the roof.
Dektite rubber boot to seal the pipe.
A piece of all fuel pipe connected to roof support to drop you below your trusses.
SS dripless pipe adapter.
Single wall to stove.

Awesome. I'm thinking 6" - mainly going to have a wood stove (currently a barrel stove, but thinking about a different one eventually. Garage is only 30x25 so nothing huge.)

I plan on just using single wall stove pipe up to this insulated pipe at the ceiling. Part numbers would be awesome.

6UT-48 The 48 is the length of pipe so just substitute the number for length needed. 6,9,12,18,24,36,48 are the sizes available.

6UT-RSP Roof support package. 18" piece with wings. It will hang down 12" below the wings.

6T-DSAC Dripless smoke pipe adapter. This will screw on the all-fuel pipe then your single wall pipe will slide over it.
