Replaceable Allen wrenches

I realize my title isn’t exactly what I want but here goes. I have some Allen sockets that you can replace the Allen wrench portion with another Allen wrench if you break or damage it. If you’re using a 1/4” Allen socket and you break it just loosen a small Allen head set screw and cut a piece off of a wrench the length you need and you’re good to go. Each socket is the exact size as the Allen wrench it’s holding. You coy put the Allen wrench in the socket and not use the Allen set screw.
It’s a craftsman set. Does anyone know who/where someone could find some like these.

eBay for older Craftsman,Armstrong, Matco,Easco , Bonney, indestro use the set screw.
Make sure you see the set screw on the side. HJE sells the Bonney sockets.

The old Snap On hex bits were held in with a roll pin. The newer ones are pressed in. Ebay probably has the old ones somewhere.

They’re close but they don’t have a set screw.

Mine are Armstrong, but no longer available new.

Yup, the older SK had a set screw. I had a metric set a while back. I hated it, set screws would loosen up and next thing you knew your looking for the Allen on the floor or in the engine compartment. I found a set of Carlyle and haven’t looked back. My SAE set is a newer style SK and they are ok.

Bob15 you are correct. A set that I can replace the Allen wrench portion of the socket by just cutting an Allen wrench of the same size for replacement. Thank You.
To me these are so handy to use. Last week I was taking the bottom screw out of a motorcycle fork. The standard length that comes in the sockets was to short. I cut off a regular 90° bend type Allen wrench to the length I needed then loosened the set screw then swapped out the longer Allen wrench. Works just as easy when you break or round off the Allen wrench portion.

My Harbor Freight (blasphemy!) sets of standard and ball end long reach hex sockets have setscrews and were made in Taiwan. Very nice quality.

I don't think they still sell these, but you might need to take a look in person. The photo currently on their website doesn't show setscrews, but maybe they're on the other side.

In any case, they work great and have withstood my unreasonable abuse. On a few, I've flipped the bit around to get the "freshest" possible surface. I've also ground off a bit on a few to get rid of the rounded corners of the lead-in to get the maximum possible engagement in certain situations.
