I have used my Reznor FT45 for over ten years and until last Winter, it worked very well, but it stopped near the end of the season, so I didn't really need it. Trying to solve the problem-
Induction motor runs, spark ignition works, flame starts and shuts off after about 5 seconds. It makes several attempts.
I use YouTube for finding a lot of answers, but when I need a specialist, I ignore the "some guy who worked on one of these". The majority of the videos indicated that the flame sensor was a likely culprit and showed how to check the current but since they weren't specific to my model, they didn't state the required voltage on the wire for the sensor at the beginning or after the sensor has been immersed in the flame. Since the flame starts and since I have dealt with pressure switch issues in the past, I know this one is OK- it wouldn't fire if the switch or rubber line were bad.
When I measured Current, it read >5uA, which is in the 'acceptable' window, from what I have seen. I would like to find a more detailed schematic because the one on the cover seems to be somewhat different from my version- it shows hot surface igniter and mine is spark. The schematic I downloaded shows a momentary switch that can be pressed for >2 seconds, to show the most recent fault codes, but mine doesn't have this- it only has a pair of CIP switches. The
I do some woodworking in the garage, but I use a good dust collector and when I used a brush to clean the top of the heat exchanger, nothing came off and it's very clean with virtually no residue of any kind. I do have a small endoscope camera that I can insert, if needed.
I have always used a small Propane tank for fuel and it never failed, even though everyone said it wouldn't work- the photos show the stickers on the cover but I'll get a photo of the circuit board part number ASAP.
Do the relays fail in these? I had a furnace that was over-sized by a previous owner of my house and the relay had burned contacts, probably from short-cycling. It had four contacts, but only two had been used.
