Hello Garage Journal users! Can anyone tell me the difference between a Reznor model UADP and UADS other than the UADS draws outside air? Could I just add a flange to the intake air on the UADP and pipe in outside air? For about a $400 price difference I could buy a lot of flanges!

The UDAS is a separated combustion heater, not only drawing in outside air for cimbustion but completely sealing off the heat exchanger and burners from the inside air in the shop. This is a increase in safety factor when using flammable liquids or sawdust. The standard Reznor has its entire heat exchanger and burners open to the ambient shop air.

For just general wrench turning I'd get a UDAP. if you're doing woodwork or a lot of painting, a UDAS.
