That tag on the left side of the main casting (as you face the machine) above the quill retracting spring housing will be a good place to start. Use some straight Simple Green to soften the paint and try to get down to the original markings.
That does look like a Rockwell emblem on the front part of that tag.

Thanks. It is a Rockwell emblem. Unfortunately the only thing legible is a stamped "5302", I'm assuming that's the serial number.
Are you saying that it only came with that base with the lube groove and that served as the drilling table? There was no height adjusrltable table? I could see where that would work in a production situation but it is definitely something I never saw before. Congrats. The 15" is a good medium duty DP.
After cleanup, you can position the head at the top of the column and get more working room under the chuck.
IIRC, most Delta/Rockwell columns are the same diameter. If you need the additional height, you can swap in a floor column. They're out there cheap, but shipping would be a killer.

Correct. Moving the head up and down gives the height adjustment. It was designed for a set it and leave it setup. Heavy jigs, smaller drill bit. Very similar parts all the time. At some point in time someone stuck a standard (center hole) table on there.
