Now my sad story.
I was having my lift installed as a treat to myself. Installers are drilling the holes and they find a 1/2” void about 2” down into the 1’ thick concrete floor on one side of the lift. The idiots refused to keep going as they said a car with crash the floor into the living quarters below.
I finished drilling the holes myself and then used a tube to pour floor leveller in. 4 large bags. All is good.
Loving my floor for about 5 years when **** started to happen. I cracked a tile under a car jack. Brought a tear to my eye. I had no idea what was about to happen next. Over the next couple of years the black and white tiles started to crack in multiple places under load.
I think it was a combination of things. There were more voids and the floor settled. There was expansion from the heating living area below. Or becace the black and white tiles were thinner than the grey and I had to back butter both sides.
I was heartbroken every time one cracked and it kept me up at night.
I purchased as much of the 3 colours as I could find so I could repair the floor.
Oh man! I love all the feedback but hate hearing about the whole situation! I have plans for a 2 car lift to be installed as well. I have been super patient allowing my floor to “settle” for almost a full year. I did get some cracks that formed and have already had them repaired.
My plan was to basically follow
@Dakota00 directions from his thread. I am tempted to spend the extra money and get a layer of that membrane to help and extra settling. It’s a real big extra expense though!
I hope you at least get to keep those two Porsches! No wife. No kids- but 6 cars. So I built a garage!
