Rollerskating Wife and Expoy/polyurethane Clear Coat Mess. Help!!!!

Hello everyone. Just surfing the net and came across this great resource. Glad to have joined and became a member. Here is my problem that I hope one of you experts may be able to help me out with a solution.

My wife Angela is a roller derby referee and she also does artistic skating. We recently had our garage remodeled and had an epoxy floor with a few coats of polyurethane clear coat added for shine and for extra durability. Waited the prescribed time before walking and doing anything on the floor. Fast forward 3 weeks later. the wife has been roller skating on the floor doing her practicing. This was one of the primary reasons we did the floor. The floor is a dark red and the clear coat is glossy. Both of which when combined with what looks like wheel marks/smudges/scuff marks makes for an unattractive combination. I have tried using water and mild cleaning solution, including diluted simple green but nothing seems to get out the marks.

Does anyone have a similar situation? likely not, but maybe you have kids with skateboards, or other similar items that leave marks. Where you successful in getting the marks out and restoring the shine? I had considered using a wood floor polish as most wood floors have a poly coat on them?? Open to any suggestions. I have resigned to the fact that I may need to redue the clear coat yearly, but it would be great if I didn't have to...

Welcome!

The marks are probably rubber transfer from the rollerblade wheels. Running a floor buffer over it every month or so will remove the wheel marks.

I've removed small amounts of rubber from the floor with alcohol. I don't think I'd want to mop the whole floor with it however.

you may want to run a white or green pad on a swing machine, using a diluted "goo off" type product. It may dull it out a bit but you can wax it to bring back the shine and maintain it. It's rare I would suggest to wax but this is a good case for it. Good luck.
