so im buying a Hobart 210 unit and I am gonna run a dedicated circuit for it. it says it takes 24 amps the nearest box I have to run this is about 160 feet of wiring away. can I get by with a 30 amp 220 using 10-2 plus ground wire? is the voltage drop to much? I dont want to overkill build this and go 50amp 6-2 like some people will say. thanks!

When you run it you should think about going into a larger box in the wall,so,you can add a couple, different plugs for different items
I know it may not be code but as long as you know you can only run one at a time you will be fine.
I like,to,oversize wire when I can

Where is this going? A garage i assume...detached or attached? If detached, code doesnt allow more than one circuit to a detached building...

Welders have special wiring requirements based on duty cycle....
