rusty 1945 dp220

after a btch of a time removing the rusty spindle, I am down to removing the pulley. have loosened the bolt. wont give. what's next?

Someone here may chime in with some specific DP220 knowledge, but if not, you question will certainly fall upon experienced ears at www.owwm.org.

That bolt is what keeps it in the bore, it has a special bearing on the bottom (extended inner race). If it is as rusty as I picture it probably corroded together. I'd soak it in penetrating oil a few days. You DO NOT want to damage that pulley.

thx. guys. I will do the soaking. right now I am soaking the head to column connection. after three days got it to move about inch with the use of a dead blow hammer. did I mention this is a freebie?
will upload some pics when I can get the phone pics loaded.

To get the head/column going, remove the cross bolt (make sure the head is block in case it falls. And use a punch to drive out or at least separate the holding shoes/clamp. If you have to press it off, go as close to the column as possible for a push point to reduce bending stress in the main casting.

the bolts out and am using a square chisel on the top and bottom of the split in the casting. don't want to drive them in too far as the casting might break. just need some patience. good idea on pressing it off. wonder if a small hyd. jack would work. need to sand most of the rust off first. can't get my pics to upload from the iphone also.
